I spent 10 of my growing up years in Oxnard which is just north of Los Angeles. Oxnard is known for beaches and strawberries. It’s changed a lot since I moved from there nearly 20 years ago, but those things have remained the same.
I remember walking to school through strawberry fields and stopping to pick a strawberry here and there. I’ve never had strawberries quite like the ones they grow in Oxnard – they are seriously the best in the world.
Although the strawberries we can get here in Orange County aren’t quite as good, I still love to eat them. I can eat bowls and bowls of plain, fresh berries (and sometimes do). In recent years, though, I’ve also expanded my horizons a little into interesting strawberry recipes and found some really awesome results.

I love strawberries in my salad! Thanks for all these new recipes! I’m going to have to go pick some more! I added strawberry puree to some lemonade popsicles (http://bit.ly/1simGst) last year and the kids LOVED them. I think some more are in order!
