There are few things in life that I love as much as I love coffee.
Generally, I drink it with cream or “bulletproof”-style with a couple tablespoons of butter, but sometimes I want something a little more interesting. My current Starbucks splurge of choice is a a Chocolate Chai Latte with a shot of espresso. That’s mostly tea, I realize, but that shot of espresso makes it a whole different drink. Yum.
Now that it’s crazy cold outside (yes, 35 degrees at 5 am is cold for this California girl), I sometimes can’t get up the courage to leave the house for a Starbucks run. When that happens, I fall back on the small arsenal of coffee drink recipes that I’ve collected over time. Some are pretty similar to one another, others a bit out there. All are delicious.
10 Kicked Up Coffee Recipes
Affogato Mocha from Epicurious – This makes an awesome dessert. Espresso, chocolate ice cream and dark rum. Enough said.
Cinnamon Mocha from Taste of Home – This one reminds me of Christmas. Coffee and chocolate and spices mixed together into frothy deliciousness.
Gingerbread Spiced Bulletproof Coffee from Stupid Easy Paleo – I have mentioned before that I love me some butter in my coffee. This recipe kicks it up a notch by adding gingerbread spice to the mix. Yum.
Choco-Hazelnut from Hamilton Beach – I have a long time love affair with all things hazelnut. Add a splash of chocolate and some coffee and it couldn’t get any better. Be sure to check out the other delicious recipes on that page while you’re there.
Nutella Coffee from Coffee Stylish – This recipe is so, so simple and similar, in theory, to the Choco-Hazelnut I mentioned above, but a little richer and creamier. Just add a little Nutella to your coffee and milk some time – you won’t regret it.
Paleo Spiced Pumpkin Latte from Wellness Mama – The one thing coffee drinks tend NOT to be is healthy. I have found some that paleo-friendly that I rely on when I’m choosing not to eat all the things. This mixture of pumpkin, coconut milk and spices is one of my faves.
Coconut Vanilla Cream from Green Mountain – The Island Coconut K-Cups from Green Mountain are high on my list of favorites and while I’m always tempted to pair coconut with chocolate, this recipe changes it up and goes vanilla. Such a good plan.
Peppermint Chocolate from Paula Deen – I tend only to use this one near Christmas because, in my world, that’s where peppermint belongs. You could have it year-around, though, if you don’t have silly rules like I do.
Primal Egg Coffee from The Balanced Flower – So I will be totally honest and say that it took me a while to warm up to this idea. Because raw eggs. I eventually found some high quality eggs and got over it, though. I make mine with cinnamon and no sweetener.

Glad you warmed up to my idea of raw eggs! I definitely need to try the gingerbread spice in the already delicious bulletproof coffee.
Cheers!
