The thing that always strikes me about the BlogHer conference is how amazing it is to be in a room full of like-minded women (and some men, too). The power of that is something I find difficult to describe in words, but it’s what keeps me going back to blogging conferences year after year.

The other thing that keeps me going back is the excuse to spend quality time with people I mostly only know over the internet. I wrote a little about the power of those friendships last week but the reality is that nothing beats being in the same room with those friends.

One thing I’ve been doing since the beginning of my BlogHer days is bringing small gifts for my roomies and close friends. I know it’s not necessary but something small and thoughtful is never a bad idea, in my opinion. I mean, who doesn’t like gifts, right?

Now don’t get me wrong. I am by no means saying this is mandatory. And I still love you to the end of earth and back if you didn’t bring me anything. It’s just something I like to do. It makes me happy to make people smile.

And, honestly, even just a nice greeting card (which I – gasp! – forgot to bring) is worth so much to me as the receiver. We are newly on a ridiculously tight budget, so the Hallmark Rewards program now has an extra special place in my heart. And bonus, Walmart carries these cards at a fantastic price. Winning all over the place, yo.

Six Really Awesome & Inexpensive Gift Ideas

Brownie Cupcakes in a Can - chicacircle.com
These Brownie Cupcakes in a Can make a seriously awesome gift for, well, anyone. Complete with an inspirational message printable, my friend Pauline at Club Chica Circle nailed this one.

I had been lusting after the Starbucks Hobnail Cold Cup since the first time I spotted it on store shelves. The bumpy texture of this cup makes me all kinds of happy and I’m so grateful Wendy gets me enough to know I “needed” one of these without even having to ask.

This Bewbew Designs case came in so handy at BlogHer. I’m not sure what its creator had in mind when they designed it but the lovely Anna told us they were for holding chargers and other miscellaneous cords and I believed her. She’s trustworthy like that.

Have you guys seen these Keycals for your Mac before? I haven’t but I am madly in love with the set that Megan brought me at BlogHer. Can’t WAIT to put them on my keys.

has been kind of a running joke/mantra with some of my blogging besties since we heard it discussed at a recent conference. The lovely Lynnee (also of Club Chica Circle) gifted me with a copy of the audio book (she knows me so well) so I could finally read all about the method behind the madness.

And now you might be wondering what my bloggy besties got from me.

Well, I was really in the mood to create just before BlogHer (craziness at home will do that to a person) so I decided a little sewing project would be in order. I used a pattern from this Etsy shop and whipped up a handful of these super cute business card wallets. I paired each with a card and was all set to go!
